Earth day: save our oceans

Okay I know, Earth day was like three or four days ago, oh god maybe even a week ago. But in my defense, every day should be Earth day. We should appreciate our world every day and be honored that we got the privilege to be born in this beautiful world.

So what do you say about saving the world? Saving the world or more making up for what we humans have caused. By this time we should all know what’s going on and what the consequences of our actions will be.

Today I wanted to talk to you about one of the essential elements of our world, the ocean. For me the ocean is absolutely breathtaking and an incredible hidden world. Like did you know that about 95% of our oceans are still unexplored. Unseen by human eyes? Even though we think we have discovered and know a lot about the ocean, we actually don’t. I can’t even imagine how much more there is to discover. More and more of the oceans deep secrets.

The ocean is basically everything for us, without it the natural balance would never work and with too much of it, all of the land living creatures in this world wouldn’t have a place to live on. We have the ocean to thank for a lot. For example, we humans can go weeks without food and days without water but not even a hour without oxygen. And actually 50% of the oxygen we breathe is produced by the ocean.

Here are a few things we all can do to treat the ocean better:

USE FEWER PLASTIC PRODUCTS

All plastic that end up in the ocean contribute to destroying the habitat of most animals and kill tens of thousands of marine animals each year.

To limit your impact

  • Carry a reusable water bottle and a reusable bag when shopping.
  • Recycle MORE!

HELP TAKE CARE OF THE BEACH

Whenever you’re hanging out on the beach, whether you’re snorkeling, surfing, or just hanging out with friends, don’t forget to clean up after yourselves. The trash you’re leaving will probably end up in the ocean in some way.

DON’T PURCHASE ITEMS THAT EXPLOIT MARINE LIFE

Certain products are contributing to the harming of coral reefs and marine populations.

Examples of items to avoid:

  • Coral jewelry
  • turtle shell hair accessories
  • Any shark products

SUPPORT ORGANIZATIONS WORKING TO PROTECT THE OCEAN

Many different organizations and institutions are fighting to protect ocean habitats and marine wildlife.

  • Find a national organization and consider giving financial support.
  • Volunteer and get involved in the project close to home.

  1. This is an amazing post. I’m currently looking into organisations that help the ocean. I find it to be a really important topic but that people don’t talk about enough. Thanks for sharing. xxx

  2. Great post! I’m very bad when it comes to plastic bottles, but at least I try to recycle. What really gets on my nerves though is people who litter around water! I mean, is it really so hard to put your garbage in the bin?

  3. The plastics issue is such a big one. I haven’t used plastic bottles in a while, and try to refuse straws in restaurants. My thing lately has been to minimize my microplastic use in clothing in cosmetics. That one is harder.

  4. Industrial agriculture, most of which is to support animals raised for meat, is the biggest threat to oceans. Not to mention both farmed and wild-caught fish for human consumption is threatening the food chain balance. We should all do our best to reduce meat intake as well.

  5. Outstanding post. Thanks for standing up for the thing u believe and I never thought of the ocean much (because I live in Austria and we don’t have oceans) but thanks for the insight and newly gained responsibility.

  6. I definitely agree with you, we shouldn’t just think about the earth once a year, we should take care of it every day. The ocean is so beautiful and some of these facts were really interesting, I’ve also nominated you for the Mystery Blogger Award! xxx

I simply had to reblog this.
This child is SUCH AN INSPIRATION!!!
    Meet Tuva :

    Welcome to my life.
I’m Tuva Zetterdahl, a Swedish 15 year old girl, doing what I love the most; explore.
I come from a family full of travellers, then you may understand that my biggest passion is to travel, explore new places and meet new people. I’ve been in every continent and visited more than 20 countries (I’m too lazy to count). I’m madly in love with the ocean and I’m a sucker for trying out new things. I always want to see more!!
I decided to create this blog to upload pictures, write about those places I visit, talk about things I care about and much more. I have been in so many countries and already seen so much that I really want to share with you, share those things that normally not many asks me about.
Take my hand, and I’ll show you my world.
So go and subscribe right away, bc this is a place you don’t want to miss out on!

    1. Thank you so much!
I love writing these kinds of posts to simply – make people aware! Definitely need to do it more often! I think you’re doing such a great job at your blog! People need to be reminded constantly bc there’s so much else in people’s minds these days, if we don’t talk about it often I think unfortunately people will forget the huge problem that’s surrounding us. xx

      1. Exactly that! I think it’s a lot about opening peoples eyes, once they are open you can’t close them again 😊 there’s an awesome documentary on Netflix called before the flood, totally worth a watch! Also, it’s made by Leo Dicaprio, what more could you want 😂❤️
