Okey I know, Earth day was like three or four days ago, oh god maybe even a week ago. But in my defence everyday should be Earth day, right? We should appreciate our world every day and be honored that we got the privilege to be born in this beautiful world. So what do you say about saving the world huh? Saving the world or more making up for what we humans have caused. By this time we should all know what’s going on, what the consequences of our actions will be and more. We all know a lot of different solutions on our big global problems, so I hope that everyone are aware of how we together can change stuff to the better. If not, keep on reading!
Today I wanted to talk to you about one of the most beautiful and wonderful things in this world, the ocean. I have always loved the ocean. For me it’s just breathtaking and such a incredible hidden world. Like did you know that about 95% of our oceans are still unexplored. Unseen by human eyes? And that’s when I start speculating in my head, like even though we think we have discovered and know a lot about the ocean, we actually don’t. I can’t even imagine how much more there is to discover. More and more of the oceans deep secrets.
The ocean is basically everything for us, without it the natural balance would never work and with to much of it, all of the land living creatures (including us) in this world wouldn’t have a place to live on. That wouldn’t be pleasing. But we have the ocean to thank for a lot of stuff. For example, we humans can go weeks without food and days without water but not even a hour without oxygen. And actually 50% of the oxygen we breathe is from our oceans.
Here’s your bible to save the oceans:
USE FEWER PLASTIC PRODUCTS
All plastic that end up in the ocean contribute to destroying the habitat of most animals and kill tens of thousands of marine animals each year.
To limit your impact
- Carry a reusable water bottle and a reusable bag when shopping.
- Recycle MORE!
HELP TAKE CARE OF THE BEACH!
Whenever you’re hanging out on the beach, whether you’re snorkeling, surfing or just hanging out with friends, don’t forget to clean up after yourselves. Always! The trash you’re leaving will probably end up in the ocean in some way.
DON’T PURCHASE ITEMS THAT EXPLOIT MARINE LIFE
Certain products are contributing to the harming of coral reefs and marine populations.
Examples of items to avoid:
- Coral jewelry
- turtle shell hair accessories
- Any shark products
SUPPORT ORGANIZATIONS WORKING TO PROTECT THE OCEAN
Many different organizations and institutions are fighting to protect ocean habitat and marine wildlife.
- Find a national organization and consider giving financial support.
- Volunteer and get involved in the project close to home.
We destroy the ocean and that’s not fair, the ocean keep on fighting for us, but do we appreciate it enough? I don’t think so, but what do you think? I would love to know your opinions and thoughts about this topic!
