10 Reasons Why I Love To Travel

Gosh, I can’t count how many nice and interesting people I’ve met through traveling. From when I was little and became friends with the locals and played together on the beach to plenty of people who has opened up their homes to my family or just been super chatty. It’s those kinds of people you’ll remember. The guy who swam together with my brother when we were snorkeling with seaturtles at Apo Island, The Philippines. The masseuse in Khao Lak in Thailand who thought the 7 year old me was so cute that she spent her time giving me pendicures, manicures and did a whole makeover on me hahah. The friendly couple and owners at Panorama de Argao at Cebu island in The Philippines who let us play with their dog Rambo and had dinner with us. And so many more.

2. Trying new food

I’m definitely not picky when it comes to food. Not at all. I eat basically everything and I love to eat. When you travel you automatically need to try new food since the food culture probably is different from what you’re used to (depends on where you’re traveling to). I love to eat and love to try new things. You can always find so much good food out there! From luxury restaurants to street kitchens, just be careful there’s always a risk for food poisoning.

3. Doing something that is out of your comfort zone, creating great adrenaline or achiveing goals

For every trip I make I always have at least one goal. To have these goals I always have to look into what cool things you can do at the destination I’m going to. For example when I was going to Hong Kong my goals were to see The Tian Tan Buddha statue at Lantau Island and to find as much amazing street art as possible. In the Philippines my goals were to swim with the world’s biggest sharks – whale sharks and with seaturtles out in the coralreef. I’ve also been Dune dashing in Dubai’s desert and now recently I hiked all the way up on Lion’s Head in Cape Town for the first time! I’m happy I can say that I’ve achived these and many more things while traveling. Doing something that makes you excited to just think about is one of my favorite things ever.

4. I’m a sucker for the ocean

I love the ocean. I’ve always loved everything that has to do with water. The ocean, lakes, waterfalls you name it! It’s for sure the biggest highlight when I’m traveling. Snorkeling, swimming, diving, hearing the sound of waves crashing into the beach, love it so much.

5. Sunsets and sunrises

Beautiful sunsets and sunrises, different destinations but always the same sun. When the sun is going down it’s going up some where else on the planet, but it’s still the same sun. It’s actually fascinating to think that we’re really just tiny creatures looking at a big gigantic burning globe. A burning globe that isn’t our friend but can be so incredibly beautiful.

6. Communicating in English only

Traveling has really improved my English over the years. And I really enjoy practicing it. After I started my blog on only English (I’m Swedish) I can really say I’m fluent in the English language. It really just comes naturally which I think is really fun. I’ve always been good at languages and especially been quick at catching up and learning new words. My aunt has also lived many years in London and now in Bahrain as well, we have a “policy” to always text each other in English and sometimes talk on the phone too. I have to talk to her husband in English because he’s from Bahrain and soon I will have to speak in English to my cousin who is soon going to be born!!! So excited for that!

7. Explore hidden gems and be mind blown by our planets beauty

This planet, we live on a very little globe that’s flying in a enormous space with mostly emptiness (as far as we know) but still our planet can be so incredibly beautiful and mind blowing, it’s absolutely crazy!!

8. The feeling of taking off and landing

The best feeling ever. Taking off, leaving the ground and knowing that I’m on my way to new adventures. And when you land and step outside to get that hot breeze coming at you, so nice.

9. Waking up at first day of vacation

Just being mind blown that you’re still not home in your regular bed. First few days on vacation are always a bit dizzy for me because I’m always having a hard time coping with the fact that I’m actually there hahahaha!

10. Bonding and spending time with family and friends

I always travel together with my family witch often includes my parents, my little brother, my two small cousins, my aunt and her husband and my grandma. Either all of us our just my family, it depends. But anyways, I love spending time with my family since we’re all so close and we all just have such a great time together. Not to mention that my cousins are the funniest and cutest kids ever (they almost feel like my siblings), my aunt and her husband has the best humor you can find and will probably never grow up (at least my aunt) and I can talk for hours with my grandma. So creating new memories together with them while traveling is the best!

    1. Me too! I’m actually not really fond with the idea of traveling alone, I’m a very social person and like to create great memories together with other people. But idk, could be a cool experience though? Would love to read about your solo travel if you ever do one 🙂

  2. I love travelling!! It’s my favourite thing to do, and I’d do it all the time if I could. Love your reasons – except for the landing/taking off one, as I HATE flying! Which is very, very annoying when you love to travel… but I get on a plane anyway as I know it’s always worth the adventure. Trying new food is definitely one of the best reasons!!

    1. Hahah I so feel you on that, I’d totally do it all the time if I was able to. Oh you hate flying! That’s such a pity for someone who loves to travel!! I really hope you can fight past it! I know someone who did recently by taking some kind of “fear of flying course”. Thank you for reading!

  3. I thought I was the only one who enjoyed the sensation of take off! It’s such an adrenaline rush isn’t it 😂 Knowing it’s the start of an epic adventure.

100% agree with all your other reasons. Travelling simply makes your life richer in experiences and memories!
